Seven Days in Saskatchewan
Tuesday
Approximate Distance Travelled: 242km
From Swift Current directly down the Trans-Can to the very windy city of Moose Jaw. Spent the entire afternoon exploring the city's main attraction. Refused to pay for overpriced camp site, and wound up driving through the middle of a lake before quickly setting up camp in the dark. Visited repeatedly by coyotes during the night.
Fire was not the only destructive force that had swept through the dark basement. Large holes had been knocked through walls, and in some cases, the walls themselves had collapsed entirely. Powdery substances, whether ash or dust, coated every surface we saw as we navigated the black spaces.
Surprising detail and craftsmanship were revealed in small ways throughout the building; often showing through the fire damage that marred nearly everything. The floors had small decorative patterns of tile, the doorframes were solid wood, and the stairways had wooden handrails.
A somewhat hidden cluster of laboratories at the back of the building held many artifacts. Particularly, a couple files and boxes of patient records, test results, and sample lay about; such as these slides labeled "Bone Marrow".
A machine most abused and photographed, found on the upper floor.
